If you take digital pictures and would like to learn how to process and improve them to either print, attach to emails to send to friends or family, then come and join our enthusiastic self help group learning from each other.

We start from the very beginning with the operation of cameras, picture composition, exposure, downloading, to printing and mounting, in fact any aspect of digital photography you may want to know about.

You don't need any previous experience in photography whatsoever.

We have two separate groups at our meetings, one for beginners and one for improvers.

However, you don’t have to always attend or choose to join one of the groups for every future visit.

On each visit you can join whichever group is doing something you want to learn about.

Each time we meet we often bring along some digital images on a USB memory stick to review and for members to offer constructive criticism.

We offer both the beginners and the improvers groups the opportunity to view the images during their separate meetings.

The content of each groups meeting is chosen by the group members, and we welcome requests for subjects to be included in future meetings.

Come along and join in the fun.

September 24th 2021 at 2:00pm - Should we be challenging someones ubiquity? - St Marys Parish Hall, South Milford

Camera and lens

Our meeting on Friday 24th September 2021, is ‘Should we be challenging someone’s ubiquity?’

Arguably, Adobe dominates the image processing software market.

In recent years Adobe has changed their marketing model from, a once only payment to purchase Photoshop and then purchase a discounted upgrade, to the next release, to a subscription-based model with a monthly payment.

They have made available a ‘Photography Package’ at a lower price than their comprehensive Creative Cloud set of applications.

However, there are a number of very good image processing software programmes available for a one payment purchase, and some with free upgrades.

A relatively recent one Affinity Photo has proved very popular, at a price of around £50.00, but with regular half-price offers at £25.00 or less on occasions.

There are several programmes available which are free.

Come and give us your opinions on which software you use and/or recommend.

Please feel free to bring your laptop with you to assist in showing your preferences.

October 8th 2021 at 2:00pm - Smartphone Cameras - St Marys Parish Hall, South Milford

Smartphone

Our meeting on Friday 8th October 2021, is entitled ‘Using mobile/smartphones cameras’.

Howard Mason has volunteered to give us a talk on his experiences using the cameras built into mobile smartphones.

Please bring your smartphones to this meeting, and if possible, some examples of your images taken with your smartphone.

Howard will explain how to get the best images, from your smartphone, by using the choice of built-in cameras, and how to use the many optional settings.

Will we be convinced that smartphones are a viable alternative to compact cameras?
